A Broadway Birthday Show: Paulinians celebrate University President’s 60th birthday

St. Paul University Manila celebrated the 60th birthday of our University President, Sr. Ma. Evangeline L. Anastacio, SPC, with a virtual program titled, “A Broadway Birthday Show” on November 19, 2021, that premiered on the Facebook page of SPU Manila-Supreme Student Council.
The program started with a prayer led by the Paulinian Liturgical Animators, followed by an opening act from Edward Cardaño, who performed “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables, and video presentations prepared by the different colleges and student organizations.
The College of Music and Performing Arts kicked off the presentations with their rendition of “You’ve Got a Friend” from The Carole King Musical. With a song from ABBA, the College of Business and Management performed “Mamma Mia” from Mamma Mia, followed by an intermission number from the Paulinian Dance Troupe. The presentations continued with “Seasons of Love” from the musical, Rent, by the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences; and “For the First Time since Forever” from Frozen, presented by the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Education, together with the Integrated Students Media Society, Paulinian Psychology Circle, and The Paulinian. Tanghalang St. Paul also performed “Journey to the Past’’ from Anastacia as an intermission number, followed by the special performance of “For Good” from Wicked by the Supreme Student Council.
Video greetings and birthday messages were also prepared for Sr. Evangeline by the co-curricular and extra-curricular organizations — Hotel and Restaurant Management Circle of Paulinians, Hospitality and Tourism Management Students, Junior Marketing Association, Junior Philippine Computer Students, Paulinian Tourism Society, inforNursetion, Paulinian Debate Society, Paulinian Environmental Society, Paulinian Public Relations, SPU Manila Pro-Life, Red Cross Youth Council, RED Management, and Youth Alliance for Peace. The Senior High School Faculty, Office of the University Registrar, Mr. Lamer Morales and Ms. Judith Alderete of Kapisanan ng mga Guro, as well as non-academic personnel, including office staff, general services staff, guidance office, PEAC staff, finance staff, Ms. Cristina Ramos — former secretary of Sr. Evangeline — also gave birthday greetings and messages. Moreover, the family of Sr. Evangeline showed video greetings for their “Tita Nun,” including special messages, a dance, a song, and a slide show of her 60 colorful years.
The program ended with a closing message from Ms. Jasmine Kalaw, Supreme Student Council President, followed by a closing prayer from the Paulinian Liturgical Animators.
In a Facebook comment, Sr. Evangeline Anastacio, SPC, expressed her gratitude for the event:
“Thank you so much for all your heartwarming birthday wishes and kind words. They mean so much to me. Thank you for putting a big bright smile on my face today! You are God’s wonderful blessings to me on my 60th birthday, I love you all. My wish for all of you is for you to become the most beautiful persons that God wants you to be. I love and appreciate everything about this presentation, and I consider this Broadway Birthday Show as a GIFT. For me, it is your way of affirming me as a Sister, as a friend, and as a companion in this life’s journey. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and your gestures of love and respect.
